With the election well on its way, I can’t help but wonder if anyone is in the same boat as me.
I don’t follow anything to do with politics and I didn’t care who our priminsiter was or who got chosen. Being under 18 I didn’t have to worry about that but now the time has come. Now that I’m 18 I have to vote and no - I don’t want to go make up a dodge vote because I can’t help but think that mine will be the one that is the decider!
But who to choose if you don’t know anything about what either one of them promises! Watch the political discussions more? Well I tried watching the 90minute debate last night but much to my partner’s disgust – only got through 30 minutes of it before I was fast asleep. All I got out of it was that Kevin Rudd wants to get rid of the workers right thing – which I think is a great thing… I thought anyway… and that John Howard made the best argument over all. (judging by the votes on sun-rise the next morning).
What to do? Who do I choose? Hopefully something will happen that will make me choose one way or another……

A cute little kitten! She arrived at her new home on the 11th of October and she is…. a 2 month old LAYENESE kitten. She was chosen out by me and my sister so therefore we didn’t get the enjoyment of naming her. This was left up to mum, so…… at the moment she is still not named. Can be referred to as……. “happy”, “Catti” or “kitten!”
The other Cats we have had usually turn really mean and unsociable, but so far so good with “kitten” being as playful and cuddly as ever!!

beautiful BLUE eyes!

With winter gone and the days starting to warm out, Hervey Bay beach is the place to be. The best thing about Hervey Bay is that this beautiful weather will continue way into next year! It always been something nice to do if you are board, not to mention the dogs just LOVES the beach! These shots were taken on a beautiful Wednesday morning.
Of course, as usual pictures are on http://www.flickr.com/photos/shannonmcduff/

So today I hear on the Radio that Hungry Jacks is coming to Hervey Bay in December. They were looking for senior employees from the ages between 17 and 21. But, I can’t help but wonder - is this another rumour going around? First time i heard about it was it was going in where Bunnings is. Then, I heard that it was going in near red roster and I actually thought that this time it was really going to go there, but no. So here we go again, but will it happen?…. we shall see
I’ve always loved Hungry Jacks and maybe it’s because we don’t have it in Hervey Bay and it’s always nice to get a burger when I’m off on a holiday. Will having it in Hervey Bay and so accessible all the time - still make it taste as good every time?

And I thought I was going to have a boring weekend.
Saturday was my first day of my new job at “My Haven” which is inside Possum Paradise. After quitting my old job on Fraser Island I now have a new job working at “My Haven”. For those of you who don’t know, My Haven (formally known as Pep’s Kef) is situated inside Possum Paradise in Hervey Bay. The nice little cafe there has recently changed over hands which means new ideas, new menus and new STOCK - so at the moment there is a giant sale on everything. I don’t think I will miss Fraser Island ……..cause I can visit any time I want – not to mention I am going over there for a friend’s birthday!
Sunday night was a big event. Art for earth held a candle ceremony (at my partners place) for the protest of the whale. In massive ‘candle’ letters the words “Let Them Be” were spelt out, as well as 2 other whale and their own logo. With only minimum volunteers they were still able to make it look fantastic.
If you follow this link here - http://artforearth.netfirms.com/Whales/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=37&Itemid=2 you’ll find more photos from the day.
*note the picture on the website with the volunteers in it – in the far far distance (up near the house) you can see my shitty little red car!!!!

With winter passing and today being the first day of Spring – I took the opportunity to go down to the beach. I didn’t go to my usual beach but was still happy with the lovely weather and nice blue sky’s at the Hervey Bay Dundowran beach.
As well as the beach I went and had a lovely apple crumble and milkshake down at Arkarra Garden. Arkarra has come a long way since the 10 years I have been here. It has taken a very nice turn- it now has a very nice Balinese theme to it. Not only this, but it has nice sit down meals and drinks and reasonable prices. Always a nice place to take visitors & kids to as you can go for a nature walk and feed the animals after you have had your meal.

Last week’s unseasonal rain has proved a welcome to Hervey Bay’s water supply and saved the Wide Bay Water Corporation from imposing tighter restrictions. Just one week ago Lenthall’s Dam was only 51% while after the rough weather it is now 71%. However, the water restrictions will still apply as summer is coming up and is still relatively low to see Hervey Bay through two wet seasons.
While this rough weather was going on I thought it was a great opportunity to take photos however, of course my camera didn’t have any batteries - So I battled the winds and tried the corner store only to find that batteries weren’t good enough for my camera. As it will only run on the $7.00 batteries.
So I was resorted to taking really bad photos with a camera phone. One picture, as you may or may not be able to tell is all blurry as rain got in it. (Not to mention it is quite difficult to take pictures in the rain - without getting wet!) Anyway, once again you can see better pictures on http://www.flickr.com/photos/benmay/sets/72157601625226635/, however I may add that if it wasn’t for me, he wouldn’t even of know’n that this weather was going on!

One the biggest events which happens every two years is the Bundaberg Air Show. This is a magnificent three day event, incorporating aerial demonstrations, joy flights, and static displays of some of the finest aircraft to take to the skies.
This was my first year of going to the show, however I have been to a similar smaller air show in my town – Hervey Bay. It was fantastic, and even though we arrived in the afternoon while most crowds had gone – it was still impressive!
The thing that impressed me the most was …the plane in the picture below. (try as I might, I can not find the name of it!) It is used to drop of soldiers in battle so it has to be able to get away quickly. It can take off in under 400m! Just to be able to see something so big, build up so much power and than take off in just that little amount is quite amazing!

More pictures to come of the Bundaberg Air show (2007) in the Gallery!
A few of them are already on www.flickr.com/photos/benmay - have a look!

Giving blood is one of the most eaiest things someone could do. Not to mention there are alot of free things you get out of it! Espically when you are at school, you get things like pizza vouchers, toys and mcdonals vouchers!
And for those of you who think it hurts, well yeah a needle going into you does hurt, but its just like getting a tiny neede. Its just a small prick when it goes in, than your set. You just sit around on a lounge while people pamper you and offer you drinks and snaks! Why wouldn’t you do it!
Just an hour out of your time, every three months! I reccomend it to anyone who at least hasn’t tried it once!
There is no real bad side..appart from one time (which will help those who don’t want to do it - to never do it!). The begining of this year it was, and I had come in for the usual. However when they put the needle in, they actually pierced the whole vien! (internal bleeding) lol wasn’t such a big deal though.
I still donate though, but get a senior to do it!
DONATE!
